1080p is not going to be the standard much longer, and I would like for these ports to stay relevant for many years. I do however feel that the 1080p limit is a problem for MGS2 and 3. Especially all the extra stuff, like artbooks, manuscripts and so on, seem to be done really well. That being said, I want to acknowledge that Konami are making these ports, and they seem to put a good amount of effort into making them the "complete and original experience, as the developers intended it". I don't play Switch, and don't know much about it, so the framerate issues there is not something I'll go into. ![]() I just want to take a little time to talk about my worries for the release of the collection, and my points are mainly about MGS1. I wish there was a little more communication with konami about this stuff like "why isnt the switch version running at 60"? (they 100% dont have the original source code and they are porting a port which can be abit tricky) luckly the new team seems to be run by people who legitimately care about the games and take feedback so i have high hopes they will respond to concerns, they made a digital ps4 port and added mouse and keyboard support due to feedback which is a gigantic green flag. These collecitons should absolutely be the definitive way to play the series, they need to TOP emulation not settle for a lower standard. Im tired of people being blinded by hype. Im a megafan of the series and i just want whats best for it, if the games come out with locked settings in a few years once the hype has died down and the ports are out almost EVERYBODY would suddenly understand why that was important and why we should've pushed for it. im so sick of hearing people saying that. No, i and other people complaining are not "ungrateful" for wanting the games to have those features because those are to be expected and those concerns are valid and legitimate. Graphical settings are an absolute must in every modern release even if its ports of old games. Just because the games are receiving a port for the first time in a while doesn't mean they shouldn't come with the proper graphical settings. Thanks to all who provided their feedback on the overall management of the subreddit going forward on this topic it is genuinely helpful for us to hear from you and what you'd like to see for the community and from our team. For example, the handling of shitposts as the series died down a bit. Long-time subscribers will remember that we will pivot as necessary as the series changes. On a somewhat related note, we will be exploring and implementing a new approach to moderating in general in the near future as the series revives itself a bit. Rather, the goal is to free up the Front Page, foster discussion of the series, and prevent the subreddit from degrading into toxicity or something akin to the Arkham subreddit, as one user pointed out. The goal here is not to moderate one group of opinions over the other. To be absolutely clear, this rule applies to both sides of the topic. ![]() Name-calling and insults that contribute nothing to the discussion will be removed. Disagreement, even vehement disagreement, is fine. As a reminder, please be respectful to your fellow MGS fans. Comments will of course naturally come up in discussion. You are welcome to create memes and whatnot about the topic, but they must be posted in this thread for the time being. ![]() Moving forward, posts (especially shitposts) that are about the debate over the FPS and resolution will be removed and directed to this post. Many of you have voiced your opinions not only on these topics but on the general state of the subreddit as well. Recently there has been a huge influx of posts regarding the Master Collection's resolution on all platforms and the Switch's frame rate. If someone is talking or asking about a game they haven't finished, then in that thread you should think about spoiler tags when replying to them.
